Forestry Forums To Be Held Virtually

BATON ROUGE, LA.
The LSU AgCenter state forestry extension team will host two virtual forums this year with two themes and held on two dates.
The first forum, set for March 9, will focus on hurricane recovery, while the second event on March 23 will cover forest management and tax advice. Both events will begin at 8:30 a.m.
The forums are professional development meetings that feature information from AgCenter extension specialists and forestry experts, said AgCenter area forester Whitney Wallace.
“In the past, the forum was set regionally by AgCenter regional foresters,” she said. “The Florida Parishes Forestry Forum is one of five hosted annually around the state.”
Considering the ongoing pandemic, it was decided this year to combine all regional forums into one virtual conference split into two themes, she said.
The forum also allows for idea-sharing among industry leaders, landowners and experts about successful efforts that others can benefit from.
All paid participants will receive a copy of the presentations either in a printed binder or on a thumb drive mailed after the conclusion of forums.
“Win prizes throughout the virtual forum,” Wallace said. “So come log in, learn and engage among the diverse landowners and professionals that play a collaborative role in the management of our southeastern forests from the comfort of your computer, laptop or favorite device.”
“These events each offer 3.0 Category 1 hours for continuing forestry education from the Society of American Foresters and 4.0 hours of continuing logging education credits from the Louisiana Forestry Association,” added Michael Blazier, a forestry researcher at the LSU AgCenter Hill Farm Research Station in Homer.
Registration for each meeting is $15. If you register for both events, the combined registration is $25. Visit https://bit.ly/3jGTdtv to register online.
If you have an unreliable internet connection or other limitations to joining online, please contact your regional AgCenter forester to make arrangements to participate in this event no later than one week prior to the event. ∆
