MU Extension Hosts Women Owning Woodland Timber Sale Webinars
COLUMBIA, MO.
University of Missouri Extension’s Women Owning Woodland program is hosting a webinar series on timber sales in February and March.
Three Thursday-evening sessions will walk participants through eight steps for making sure they get the highest price for their timber and leave a healthy forest for future harvests and revenue, says Sarah Havens, MU Extension natural resources specialist.
The webinars are 7-9 p.m. on Feb. 18, Feb. 25 and March 4.
“Too many landowners sell their timber for a fraction of its worth,” Havens says. “Or they make the mistake of harvesting all the best trees, harming the long-term health and profitably of their woodlands.”
Topics include elements of timber sale contracts, best management practices for timber harvesting, and minimizing timber sales tax.
“The webinar provides terminology, resources and a chance for landowners to ask questions about timber sales and forest resource management,” she says.
