MSU Extension Offers Irrigation Training In Delta
STARKVILLE, MISS.
The Mississippi State University Extension Service will offer multiple opportunities March 3-5 for Delta row-crop producers to get help with an important irrigation planning tool.
Extension professionals will be at county Extension offices throughout the Delta to offer assistance with the free, web-based poly pipe tubing application “Pipe Planner,” discuss furrow irrigation, and answer questions about field, well and poly pipe tubing choices. The free, come-and-go sessions are designed for individual consultations and in-person assistance with field mapping.
Training sessions are scheduled:
• March 3 at the Sunflower County Extension office from 8 a.m. to noon
• March 3 at the Washington County Extension office from 8 a.m. to noon
• March 3 at the Bolivar County Extension office from 1-5 p.m.
• March 3 at the Humphreys County Extension office from 1-5 p.m.
• March 4 at the Sharkey County Extension office from 8 a.m. to noon
• March 4 at the Leflore County Extension office from 8 a.m. to noon
• March 4 at the Yazoo County Extension office from 1-5 p.m.
• March 4 at the Tallahatchie County Extension office from 1-5 p.m.
• March 5 at the Quitman County Extension office from 8 a.m. to noon
• March 5 at the Tunica County Extension office from 8 a.m. to noon
• March 5 at the Coahoma County Extension office from 1-5 p.m.
• March 5 at the Panola County Extension office from 1-5 p.m.
These sessions are part of the Row-Crop Irrigation Science and Extension Research, or RISER, program developed to evaluate and promote adoption of irrigation best management practices. RISER is designed to assist producers in reducing water use while maintaining yield and profitability.
