Slaughter cows sold $2.00 higher, bulls sold steady under a light test; Demand uneven and supply moderate to heavy. Supply included: 81 percent Feeder Cattle (29 percent Steers, 41 percent Heifers, 30 percent Bulls); 14 percent Slaughter Cattle (93 percent Cows, 7 percent Bulls); 5 percent Replacement Cattle (45 percent Bred Cows, 46 percent Bred Heifers, 9 percent Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 14 percent.

Compared to last week, steer calves weighing 500-700 lbs sold steady to $2.00 higher with 700-800 lbs trading steady on a few comparable sales and 2 pot loads of 9 weight yearling steers selling with a firm undertone. Feeder heifers weighing 500-700 lbs sold steady to $5.00 higher with weights over 600 lbs not tested. Slaughter cows sold $2.00-4.00 lower with most decline on the average to lean cows. Demand was moderate to good with supply moderate. Overall quality on calves was good with quality on heifer calves this week much improved over last week.
