MU Extension Novel Fescue Field Day Set
JACKSON, MO.
Farmers can learn how to lower costs and boost animal performance at an Oct. 18 novel fescue field day in Cape Girardeau County.
University of Missouri Extension agronomy specialist Anthony Ohmes says fescue toxicosis costs livestock producers up to $1 billion per year.
The workshop is 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the MU Extension Center in Cape Girardeau County, 684 Jackson Trail, Jackson. Lunch will be served before the group leaves for a tour of Jackson and Millersville farms with renovated pastures.
Ohmes, agronomy specialist Sarah Kenyon and livestock specialist Erin Larimore will talk about nutrient management and how to select novel fescue varieties. They will also tell how to renovate pastures and maintain healthy stands.
The field day is free, but reservations are suggested by Oct. 16 for lunch. Call 573-243-3581 to register. ∆
