This week’s auction had light receipts of feeder cattle with most area farmers busy harvesting corn, few comparisons of similar kind and quality sold with a steady undertone. Most calves sold in small packages and were unweaned or short weaned. Slaughter cows sold steady to firm. Slaughter cows and a few bred cows accounted for near 30 percent of the total receipts, with slaughter steers and heifers accounting for 9 percent of the receipts. Feeder cattle consisted of 56 percent steers, 44 percent heifers and 24 percent weighing over 600 lbs.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold uneven, from $5.00 lower to $3.00 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls sold $2.00 lower. Supply light. Cows made up approximately 15 percent of the run, 85 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 30 percent of the offering, 47 percent heifers with 23 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 14 percent.

Compared to last week, 700 lbs offering sold $1.00-3.00 higher, the rest of the offering sold $2.00-8.00 lower. Slaughter cows sold $2.00 lower and bulls not tested; Demand uneven and supply moderate. Cows made up approximately 16 percent of the run, 84 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 41 percent of the offering, 45 percent heifers with 12 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 28 percent.
