Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold uneven, from $5.00 lower to $2.00 higher on a light test. Slaughter cows sold $5.00 lower and bulls sold $3.00 lower; Demand uneven and supply light. Cows made up approximately 15 percent of the run, 85 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 14 percent of the offering, 49 percent heifers with 37 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 13 percent.

Friday’s auction was a Special Bred Cow Sale with a very light offering of feeder cattle that were not well tested with last week as many were sold off the cows sold earlier in the day. Feeders were sold in small packages with many not weaned. There was a nice offering of young bred cows mostly black good quality in the 3rd stage selling with moderate to good demand. Slaughter cows sold steady to $3.00 higher. Replacement cows accounted for near 35 percent of the total receipts, with slaughter cows accounting for 22 percent, slaughter steers and heifers near 8 percent and feeders near 35 percent. Feeder cattle consisted of 42 percent steers, 58 percent heifers and 28 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
