Compared to two weeks ago, steers sold $4.00-12.00 higher and heifers sold steady to $7.00 higher. Slaughter cows sold $3.00 lower and bulls sold $1.00 lower; Demand good and supply moderate. Cows made up approximately 11 percent of the run, 89 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 41 percent of the offering, 49 percent heifers with 10 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 23 percent.

High heat was hard on cattle and humans today. Overall the average was steady to $2-3 higher. Groups of conditioned cattle $5-7 higher.

Compared to the last special feeder cattle auction three weeks ago, feeder steers weighing 500-650 lbs sold steady to firm, with 650-800 lbs trading $5.00-7.00 higher, beat test on feeder heifers were weighing 600-700 lbs selling steady to $2.00 lower with all other weights not well tested. Slaughter cows sold fully steady. Demand was moderate to good with supply moderate. The best demand was on steers weighing 600-800 lbs with several nice lots of good quality steers and groups trading with good demand. Most of the surrounding area is in need of a good rain as pastures remain short and hay supplies very low. Slaughter cows accounted for near 18 percent of the total receipts with slaughter steers and heifers near 7 percent. Feeder supply consisted of 53 percent steers, 47 percent heifers and 71 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
