Cows made up approximately 11 percent of the run, 89 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 41 percent of the offering, 49 percent heifers with 10 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 24 percent.

Good quality preconditioned weaned cattle made up a good amount of the offering today. The market for those was steady. Overall the rest of the market trended lower $5-9. Cows were $4 lower.

Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers weighing 500-750 lbs sold mostly $5.00-10.00 lower, with 750-850 lbs selling steady to $2.00 lower, feeder heifers weighing 500-600 lbs sold steady to $2.00 lower and the best test over 600 lbs were the 650-700 lb trading mostly $5.00-8.00 lower. Demand was moderate to good with supply moderate. Slaughter cows sold $3.00-4.00 lower. CME cattle futures have been plagued with liquidation selling and bearish outlook for the April to June time frame and it seems expecting the worse. Cattle on Feed Report was released Friday afternoon with on feed for March 1, up 9 percent, Placements up 7 percent and Marketings up 2 percent. Slaughter cows accounted for 14 percent of the total receipts. Feeder supply consisted of 58 percent steers and bulls, 42 percent heifers and 59 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
