Eastern Missouri Livestock Auction
FEBRUARY 23, 2018 • Bowling Green, Mo.
Receipts: 1473; Last Week: 734; Year Ago: 2678

Compared to the last special two weeks ago, steer and heifer calves under 600 lbs were lightly tested on a light offering but trading with a steady to firm undertone, a light test of 600-650 lbs steers sold mostly $8.00-10.00 higher with 650-800 lbs selling $3.00-6.00 higher over 800 lbs were not well tested. Feeder heifers had the best test on 600-700 lb trading steady to $5.00 higher with heifers over 700 lbs selling with a higher undertone on few comparable sales. Demand was good with supply moderate. A nice offering of slaughter cows sold $2.00-3.00 higher. Friday's auction consisted of several groups and strings of top quality black replacement heifers all selling with very good demand and several strings of good quality steers weighing 650-800 lbs. Despite lower cattle futures and lower fed cattle trade this week of $2.00 lower at 128.00 feeder cattle continue to push higher. Slaughter cows accounted for near 18 percent of the total receipts with slaughter steers and heifers accounting for 5 percent. Feeder cattle supply consisted of 56 percent steers, 46 percent heifers and 82 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
