Compared to the last special two weeks ago, feeder steers weighing 400-500 lbs were not tested but traded with a higher undertone, feeder steers weighing 550-850 lbs sold fully steady to firm. Feeder heifers weighing 400-500 lbs on a light test sold $5.00-7.00 higher with 500-700 lbs selling steady on comparable sales. Slaughter cows sold fully steady to firm. Demand was good with supply moderate. Despite lower feeder cattle futures and a nose-dive in the equity markets this week did not pressure feeder cattle prices. Slaughter cows accounted for near 15 percent of the total receipts. Feeder cattle consisted of 60 percent steers and bulls, 40 percent heifers and 63 percent weighing over 600 lbs.

Cows made up approximately 12 percent of the run, 88 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 27 percent of the offering, 45 percent heifers with 28 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 20 percent.
