Kentucky Dairy Partners To Meet Feb. 27-28 In Bowling Green

LEXINGTON, KY.
   The 11th annual Kentucky Dairy Partners meeting is set for Feb. 27-28 at the Sloan Convention Center in Bowling Green. The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment is a sponsor of the event for dairy producers, industry representatives and others interested in the dairy industry.
   The Kentucky Dairy Development Council Young Dairy Producers Conference will take place prior to the Dairy Partners meeting from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST Feb. 27. The exhibit hall opens at 4:30 p.m. for a reception and trade show. Registration for the Kentucky Dairy Partners meeting begins Feb. 28 at 8 a.m. with sessions beginning at 9 a.m.
   The opening session includes a presentation titled, “Recent Discoveries and Tried and True Methods You Can Use to Improve Dairy Herd Reproduction,” from Jeff Stevenson, Kansas State University. Mike Sullivan, of the Kentucky Department of Education’s Summer Food Service Program, will present “Milk Nourishes Kentucky Students in the Summer too.” Larry Tranel of Iowa State University will discuss the economics of robotic systems and low-cost milking parlors.
   After lunch and the Kentucky Dairy Development Council meeting, UK’s Joao Costa will talk about key points in calf management, early life disease and future implications. Tamara Sandberg, Kentucky Association of Food Banks, will present “Life in the Nutrition Gap.” Doug and Mona Stensland of the Stensland Dairy Farm will tell their story before the meeting wraps up around 3:30 p.m.
   Additional sponsors of the meeting include the Kentucky Dairy Development Council, American Dairy Association of Kentucky/The Dairy Alliance and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.
