University Of Illinois Extension Dairy Summit

COLLINSVILLE, ILL.
   The 2018 IL Dairy Summit, co-sponsored by University of Illinois Extension and IL Milk Producers’ Association, will be held on January 30, 31, and February 1. The program theme is “Strategies with Unfavorable Milk Prices” and will feature dairy management information with helpful ideas on how to improve profitability in tough times.  Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with the first speaker at 10:00 a.m.
   Speakers will include Dr. Mike Hutjens and Dr. Phil Cardoso, U of I Extension Dairy Specialists, plus local dairy producer.  Program topics include: “feed strategies during unprofitable times”; “strategies to improve corn silage quality”; “looking ahead to balancing milk production”; and dairy panel discussions on “risks and rewards when balancing milk production”. Other speakers include staff from Midwest Dairy Association and St. Louis District Dairy Council who will provide an update on dairy promotion programs generated from checkoff funds.  In addition, numerous dairy industry service representatives will be attending to display their latest company technology and management information.   Come early to stop by their booths for a visit. Milk, coffee and donuts will be available.
   Dairy Summit registration fee will be $15.00 per person, which includes lunch and copy of the proceedings. Registration and fees will be collected at the door. Students are free. The IL Dairy Summit, sponsored by University of Illinois Extension and Illinois Milk Producers’ Association, is an excellent opportunity for participants to “take home” new ideas to put to work in your dairy operation.
