Dicamba, Drones Top NW Mo. Certified Crop Advisers Meeting, Jan. 16-17
ST. JOSEPH, MO.
The 2018 Northwest Missouri Certified Crop Advisers Conference, Jan. 16-17 in St. Joseph, offers updates on dicamba use and a look at the latest agricultural technology.
University of Missouri Extension weed scientist Kevin Bradley talks about “Dicamba: Where do we go from here?” Bradley and his team of researchers work with other leading universities to reduce the potential for off-target movement of dicamba.
Bradley will recap findings about dicamba damage during the 2017 growing season. He also will give updates on MU Extension’s new online and in-person training sessions on dicamba. The Missouri Department of Agriculture (MDA) requires all dicamba applicators to complete training.
MDA enforcement program coordinator Darryl Slade talks about recent regulations. MU Extension economist Ray Massey talks about dicamba damage and crop insurance.
MU Extension natural resources engineer Kent Shannon will talk about using drones in crop and livestock operations. He will discuss applications, certifications and legalities.
Other sessions cover improving soybean yields, nutrient management, gully control, soil health, dicamba injury and economic outlooks.
The conference will be held at Missouri Western State University’s Fulkerson Center. The event offers 17 continuing education units.

• University of Nebraska Extension plant pathologist Tamra Jackson provides information on soybean and corn diseases.
