Compared to last week, 700-800 lbs steers and heifers sold $3.00-10.00 higher, the rest of the offering sold $1.00-9.00 lower. Slaughter cows sold 2.00 lower and bulls sold 3.00 lower. Supply moderate. Cows made up approximately 14 percent of the run, 86 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 36 percent of the offering, 20 percent heifers with 20 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 28 percent.

Compared to last week’s auction, feeder steers under 750 lbs traded steady to $3.00 higher with no good comparisons for the weights over 750 lbs. Feeder heifers were steady to $3.00 lower. Slaughter cows $2.00-4.00 lower. Buyers went right to work as several strings of reputation cattle were offered early in the auction. A lot of smaller packages followed throughout the day with some calves carrying more flesh than buyers would like. However the feeder market held up better than some expected when considering the lower feedlot trade and the ugly week that the beef futures had, including a lower close again on Friday. Cows accounted for 30 percent of the receipts with 70 percent feeders. In the feeder supply steers and bulls accounted for 70 percent, 30 percent heifers, and near 73 percent weighed over 600 lbs.
