Enlist™ Weed Control System Expands With Addition Of Enlist One™ Herbicide

Straight-goods 2,4-D choline herbicide offers additional tank-mix flexibility.

INDIANAPOLIS, IND.
Farmers growing Enlist™ crops will have an additional option for weed control in 2018. Today, Dow AgroSciences launched Enlist One™ herbicide, a straight-goods 2,4-D choline product featuring Colex-D® technology.
With the ability to tank-mix with glufosinate, farmers can make Enlist One a cornerstone of their weed control programs that feature multiple modes of action.    In addition to glufosinate, a comprehensive offering of tank-mix partners will be listed on EnlistTankMix.com. Enlist One joins Enlist Duo® herbicide, a proprietary blend of 2,4-D choline and glyphosate, in the herbicide lineup for the Enlist system.
“Farmers growing Enlist cotton have found the flexibility of Enlist One to be especially helpful. They get the benefits of 2,4-D choline and the ability to tank-mix with glufosinate for effective weed control,” says Chris Byus, Enlist herbicides product manager. “With two Enlist herbicides, farmers can select the one that best fits their weed management needs. Both contain Colex-D technology to help them land and stay on target.”
Enlist One has received federal registration for use in 34 key cotton, corn and soybean states.
Flexibility and convenience with Enlist technology
Farmers who have had Enlist cotton, corn and soybeans on their farms have seen the exceptional weed control and on-target application benefits of Enlist Duo herbicide. Enlist One delivers each of these same benefits plus additional tank-mix flexibility.
With PhytoGen offering an increased number of its cotton varieties with the Enlist trait (W3FE), more farmers in the South experienced Enlist™ cotton this year. Many had the chance to use Enlist One on a trial basis as part of their weed control programs. Using the program approach for best results, they took advantage of the ability to tank-mix the new herbicide with a glufosinate herbicide to help control Palmer amaranth, marestail, giant ragweed and other troublesome weeds.

Austin Warbington is the fourth generation to farm with his family in Georgia. To help make sure his land is available for the next generation, he has a zero-tolerance policy for weeds and is diligent about keeping them out of his cotton fields.
“The tank mix of 2,4-D choline and glufosinate really did exactly what we wanted it to. Two weeks after application, we had excellent control,” Warbington says. He has to control tough weeds, like pigweed, in his fields. “We were able to eliminate most weeds. It really took care of business. If you walked out and looked at any weed, you’d see the majority of them were very crispy.”
As with Enlist Duo® herbicide, Enlist One™ features Colex-D® technology and is designed to land and stay on target. Farmers can capitalize on the same on-target application benefits of near-zero volatility and minimized potential for physical drift.
Tim Luckey, a Tennessee farmer, watched as the application of Enlist One was made to his Enlist cotton.
“The application of Enlist One went as planned,” Luckey says. “It stayed where we applied it and has helped control the Palmer pigweed in the field.”
Luckey and Warbington also witnessed how well the W3FE varieties and Enlist One herbicide worked together, resulting in a lush, weed-free cotton field with excellent yield potential.
“After applying 2,4-D choline with the glufosinate, you really can’t see any type of burn on the PhytoGen cotton,” Warbington says. “It’s really held up and done its job.”
Given strong farmer demand, PhytoGen is planning for significant growth of its W3FE portfolio in the 2018 season. It expects farmers to plant more acres of W3FE and is increasing the number of W3FE varieties in the portfolio.
Addressing farmers’ needs with innovative solutions
Dow AgroSciences leads the way in providing herbicide solutions that help farmers reach their weed management goals. With the addition of Enlist One herbicide, farmers have a choice between two herbicides containing 2,4-D choline for their Enlist crops. They can select the convenient blend of Enlist Duo herbicide, or they can use Enlist One for greater flexibility to customize their weed control program. Tank-mix partners for both herbicides are listed on EnlistTankMix.com.
“Enlist One and Enlist Duo give farmers the opportunity to tailor their weed control program,” Byus says. “No matter which Enlist herbicide they choose, they will get exceptional weed control and the on-target application benefits of Colex-D technology.”
