Compared to last week, steer calves traded 2.00-4.00 higher with heifer calves steady to $2.00 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls traded mostly steady. Demand was good on a light supply. Replacement animals made up approximately 17 percent of the offering with the remaining 83 percent feeders. The feeder offering consisted of 24 percent steers 46 percent heifers and 30 percent bulls with 13 percent of the offering weighing over 600 lbs.

Despite high heat and humidity making for a hard day on workers and animals the market was strong. Most weights were steady to $8-10 higher. Quality and weight up was good today.

Friday's auction was a Special bred cow sale with very light receipts of feeder cattle. There were two nice consignments of mostly black young bred cows that sold with moderate to good demand. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady. Feeder cattle receipts were to light to test with 65 percent replacement and slaughter cows and 35 percent feeders on a light offering of cattle. Feeder cattle consisted of 46 percent steers, 54 percent heifers and near 34 percent weighing over 600 lbs.

Feeder heifers under 500 lbs steady to $2.00 higher, Over 500 lbs $5.00 to $10.00 higher. Demand good. Supply was moderate, the feeder supply consisted of 57 percent steers and bulls, 32 percent heifers and 48 percent of the feeders were over 600 lbs. Cows and bulls of 11 percent of the total offering. Slaughter cows steady to $2.00 higher.
