Eastern Missouri Livestock Auction
DECEMBER 2, 2016 • Bowling Green, Mo.
Receipts: 2008; Last Week: 1158; Year Ago: 2418

Compared to the last feeder auction from two weeks ago, feeder steers traded 5.00-10.00 higher and heifers steady to 5.00 higher with the most advance coming on the 500-600 lb heifers. Light receipts at the previous sale on weights over 700 lbs for both steers and heifers limited the comparisons on the heavier weights. Bulk of the receipts calves with many carrying plenty of flesh, especially on the heavier end. Slaughter cows steady. The fed cattle trade was higher earlier in the week with top prices quoted in the 115.00 range. However cattle futures closed sharply lower on Friday and at there lowest prices in two weeks which concerns producers that the fed cattle trade may now work lower into the holidays.  Cows accounted for 15 percent of the receipts with 85 percent feeders. In the feeder supply steers and bulls accounted for 65 percent, 35 percent heifers and near 58 percent weighed over 600 lbs.
