   The heat is on. Too light of a run to do a test of the market but buyers were not very active due to heat stress on the animals. Since there were not enough to test we have left the market same as last week.

   Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold $3-13 lower. Slaughter cows sold steady and bulls not tested; Demand lower and supply light. Cows made up approximately 15 percent of the run, 85 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 50 percent of the offering, 47 percent heifers with 3 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 29 percent.

   Compared to last week, a very light test of feeder calves was not well tested but traded with a lower undertone. Bulk of Friday‘s receipts was slaughter and bred cows. Slaughter cows sold firm to $2 higher. Extreme heat this week has kept receipts light as fed cattle trade has been sharply lower and cattle futures this week started with limit losses and lost ground the rest of the week. Slaughter and bred cows accounted for near 70 percent of the total receipts. Feeder supply included 53 percent steers, 47 percent heifers and 40 percent over 600 lbs.

   The offering was too small for a trend comparison due to producers making hay and the hot spell, however there were undertones of $4-9 lower. Slaughter cows sold $3 lower and bulls not tested; Demand lower and supply very light. Cows made up approximately 18 percent of the run, 82 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 31 percent of the offering, 33 percent heifers with 36 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 33 percent.
