   Compared to last week, feeder steers unevenly steady. Feeder heifers steady to $5 higher. Slaughter cows steady to $1 higher. Demand moderate, supply moderate. The feeder offering included 54 percent steers and bulls, 45 percent heifers, 1 percent Holstein steers, and about 30 percent of the total feeder offering was over 600 lbs. Cows and bulls were about 14 percent of the total offering and feeders were about 86 percent. Feeder cattle futures closed in the triple digits, at least $1.50 higher on the nearby contracts. Live cattle futures contracts closed higher, as well, at least $1.80 higher in the nearby contracts.

   Compared to last week, bulk of the feeder steers weighed 550-750 lbs and sold with a higher undertone on a light test with last week, feeder heifers traded mostly steady on comparable sales and quality with last week weighing mostly 500-700 lbs. A nice offering of slaughter cows sold fully steady to $1 higher. Feeders found some support this week from higher fed cattle prices as the CME board has been on roller coaster ride  with wide swings up and down, but for the most part demand has been good for feeders. Slaughter cows accounted for near 20 percent of the total receipts. The feeder supply included 56 percent steers and bulls, 44 percent heifers and near 54 percent weighing over 600 lbs.

   Compared to last week, 300 lbs steers and 600-700 lbs heifers sold $1-3 higher, the rest of the offering sold $1-8 lower. Slaughter cows sold $2 higher and a few bulls sold $4 higher; Demand uneven and supply light. Cows made up approximately 15 percent of the run, 85 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 27 percent of the offering, 44 percent heifers with 26 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 23 percent.
