Compared to last week, no good comparison on steer and heifer calves, undertone firm to higher. Demand good, supply light, mostly small packages of 400-700 lbs calves, near 41 percent steers and bulls, 32 percent heifers, 24 percent cows, 23 percent slaughter steers and heifers and 13 percent feeders over 600 lbs. Slaughter cows firm to $1 higher.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold $1-17 lower. Slaughter cows sold $1 lower, bulls sold $7 lower; Demand and supply light. Slaughter cows made up approximately 11 percent of the run, 89 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 35 percent of the offering, 40 percent heifers with 23 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 22 percent.

This week a few of the weight ranges showed higher, but most were $1-10 lower. With lighter runs it’s hard to do a good test of prices. Overall quality this week was not as good and order buyers are being more choosy, it being the time of year for sick cattle.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold uneven, from $1 lower to $5 higher. Slaughter cows sold $6 lower and bulls sold $3 lower. Demand uneven and supply light. Cows made up approximately 15 percent of the run, 85 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 41 percent of the offering, 35 percent heifers with 22 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 21 percent.
