Due to Labor Day there was no sale last week, however compared to two weeks ago steers and heifers sold $5-20 lower. Slaughter cows sold $1 lower, bulls sold $1 higher; Demand and supply light. Cows made up approximately 17 percent of the run, 83 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 42 percent of the offering, 40 percent heifers with 19 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 31 percent.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold $9 to $28 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls sold $2 lower; Demand lower and supply moderate. Cows made up approximately 15 percent of the run, 85 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 34 percent of the offering, 34 percent heifers with 23 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 26 percent.

Friday’s sale was a Special Bred Cow and Pairs sale with very light receipts of feeder cattle. Feeder cattle were very lightly tested with not enough feeders of any one weight range for a market test; however a sharply lower undertone was noted. Feeder sales were mostly singles, odds and small packages. Bred Cows and Pairs sold with moderate to good demand, with several packages of top quality 1st calf heifer pairs on offer. Slaughter cows sold $1-4 lower. Supply included 70 percent slaughter cows and replacement cows with 30 percent feeders. Feeder supply included 62 percent steers and bulls and 32 percent heifers.
