Compared to last week, the better quality weaned steer calves weighing 400-525 lbs and 650-700 lbs along with the 400-450 lb heifer calves sold mostly steady on a light test, as overall quality was not as attractive as last week’s special. There were a lot of calves weighing 550-650 lbs unweaned, short-weaned and fleshy selling in small and odd lots and packages trading with only moderate demand. A nice offering of yearlings sold in pot load lots trading with a firm undertone. Slaughter cows traded firm to $2 higher. Slaughter cows accounted for near 15 percent of the total receipts. The feeder supply was 63 percent steers, 35 percent heifers and near 60 percent weighing over 600 lbs.

SCHEDULING NOTE: Farmington Livestock will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 due to the Holidays.
Due to weather conditions there was too small of an offering for a trend comparison, however there were undertones of $2-5 lower. Slaughter cows sold $2 lower on a light test, bulls not well tested. Demand and supply light. Cows made up approximately 20 percent of the run, 80 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 55 percent of the offering, 33 percent heifers. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 44 percent.
