Special Bred Cow and Cow/Calf sale was held Saturday November 29, 2013 with active bidding from a large crowd of buyers as demand was very good for young bred cows and young cow/calf pairs as overall quality was very good. Receipts included about 12 percent slaughter cows.
BRED HEIFERS: Medium and Large 1: Top quality black/red Angus 1000-1100 lbs 2nd-mostly 3rd stage $2000-2050; 1000-1075 lbs Blk 2nd stage $1835-1985. Medium and Large 1-2: Few 880-1070 lbs 2nd-3rd stage $1450-1625.
BRED COWS: Medium and Large 1: 3-5 yrs 1050-1450 lbs top quality blk spring calving $1800-2050; 3-7 yrs mostly blk 1100-1650 lbs 2nd-3rd stage $1500-1775; short solid to broken mouth 1100-1450 lbs 2nd-3rd stage $1350-1475. Medium and Large 1-2: 3 yrs to short solid 950-1300 lbs 2nd-3rd stage $1310-1585. Medium and Large 2: Few 7 yrs to short solid 1050-1400 lbs mostly 2nd stage $950-1220.

Compared to last week, 500 lbs steers sold $2 higher, the rest of the offering sold $3-6 lower on a very light test. Slaughter cows sold $2 lower, bulls not well tested. Demand uneven and supply very light. Cows made up approximately 28 percent of the run, 72 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 41 percent of the offering, 48 percent heifers. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 19 percent.

Compared to last week, 300 lbs steers and 300-400 lbs heifers sold $1-3 higher, the rest of the offering sold $3-9 lower with lower than average quality in the offering. Slaughter cows sold steady and bulls sold $3 lower; Demand uneven and supply light. Cows made up approximately 21 percent of the run, 79 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 38 percent of the offering, 47 percent heifers with 15 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 30 percent.
