Compared to last week, 300 lbs steers sold $5 lower, the rest of the offering sold $5-19 higher with very good quality in the offering. Slaughter cows sold $1-2 higher and bulls sold steady; Demand mainly very good and supply moderate. Cows made up approximately 11 percent of the run, 89 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 54 percent of the offering, 39 percent heifers with 6 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 43 percent.

Due to the Holidays there was no sale last week, compared to two weeks ago, 400 lbs steers and 500 lbs heifers sold $6 lower, the rest of the offering sold steady to $8 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady. Demand uneven and supply moderate. Cows made up approximately 14 percent of the run, 86 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 41 percent of the offering, 46 percent heifers with 13 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 16 percent.

Compared to a light test two weeks ago, steer calves under 650 lbs and heifer calves under 600 lbs sold mostly $5-10 higher with instances $15 higher on the 4 weight steers and heifers and spots $12 higher on the 600-650 lb steers. Feeder steers weighing 650-750 lbs sold steady to $2 higher with steers over 750 lbs and heifers over 650 lbs not well tested. A good offering on hand consisting of mostly calves weighing 500-700 lbs The market was very active despite sharp losses for both Live and Feeder Cattle Futures. Slaughter cows sold steady to $3 lower. Cows accounted for near 10 percent of the offering. The feeder supply included 70 percent steers, 30 percent heifers and near 60 percent feeders over 600 lbs.

Weather was again a factor with icy conditions in parts of the area. No sale for Thanksgiving week and light run today, no comparison. Slaughter bulls and cows sold steady.
