Lost Acres Antique Tractor Club Demonstrates Practices Of Years Ago

PERRYVILLE, MO.
Dale Prevallet from Perryville, Mo., drove his rare AC D10 tractor pulling an IHC corn binder manned by Paul Ruehling, Jackson, Mo., recently at the Ste. Genevieve Heritage Day. The binder is about a 1920-1930 model. Ruehling made a few adjustments to cut the corn as it was not made for over 100 bushel corn. The two were cutting and binding corn for River Hills Tractor Club’s Old Timers Day set for May 23-24, 2015.
Alvin Brown used an IHC M Tractor and trailer to pick up the corn bundles with the help of Kenny Naeger, Jerry Davis and  Wayne Schremp. The bundles with ears will then run through a corn shredder which ground the stalks and picked the corn ears off. The bundle will be stored until next spring for Old Timer’s Days.

This activity took place Oct. 25 at Ste. Genevieve, Mo. Heritage Days, a big event put on by Lost Acres Antique Tractor Club. Activities included threshing wheat, shredding corn, shelling corn with tractor and also hand sheller for kids. They also made home ground molasses, apple butter, ice cream and other items.
Two corn pickers were used to pick corn at the event. Mark Heberlie brought an IHC M tractor and two-row mounted 2ME pickers. Jerry Davis brought his Ford 1963 Model 4000 tractor with a mounted 601 picker. At 10:30 a.m. there was a big parade with tractors through the historic town of Ste. Genevieve. There were several teams of horses pulling wagons and plowing ground, with about 20-30 tractors also plowing with antique tractors and plows. The site was land rented by Joe Siebert. ∆
