Compared to last week, steer calves weighing 450-550 lbs sold steady to firm, with a light test over 550 lbs selling with a weak undertone. Heifer calves on a few comparable sales sold with a weak to lower undertone as most calves were unweaned and selling with fleshy conditions and selling as singles, small packages and odd lots. Friday’s sale was a bred cow special as cows made up 60 percent of the receipts and feeders 40 percent. Slaughter cows sold fully steady. A nice offering of bred cows and pairs sold with very good demand as buyers were very active. The feeder offering consisted of 51 percent steers, 49 percent heifers and 44 percent weighed over 600 lbs.

Compared to last week, steers over 500 lbs and heifers over 400 lbs sold $2-15 higher, the 300-400 lbs steers and 300 lbs heifers sold $5-10 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls sold $7 lower. Demand uneven and supply moderate. Cows made up approximately 9 percent of the run, 91 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 48 percent of the offering, 45 percent heifers with 7 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 27 percent.

Steers made up approximately 36 percent of the offering, 42 percent heifers with 21 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 21 percent.
