Compared to the last special two weeks ago feeder steers and heifers weighing over 450 lbs sold $4-6 higher on comparable sales, under 450 lbs traded fully steady to firm on a light test. Yearling feeders continue to see the most aggressive buying as prices continue to hold near record highs while calves that are weaned and have a vaccination program are selling with the best demand as discounts are growing more severe for calves that are un-weaned, unvaccinated and fleshy. Slaughter cows traded fully steady to firm with instances $2 higher on the high dressing cows. Receipts included near 15 percent cows with 2 percent slaughter steers and heifers. The feeder supply included 48 percent steers, 52 percent heifers and near 52 percent weighing over 600 lbs.

Compared to last week, 300-400 lbs steers and the 700 lbs offering sold steady to $2 higher, the rest of the offering sold steady to $6 lower with 500 lbs steers selling $9 lower. Slaughter cows sold steady, bulls sold $3 lower; Demand uneven and supply moderate. Cows made up approximately 20 percent of the run, 80 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 48 percent of the offering, 44 percent heifers. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 26 percent.

With farmers busy in the fields, light run of cattle again. Numbers really too light to do a market comparison. Trends seemed to show good quality cattle steady to a little higher. Rest lower $1-10. We are into the season of the year when we have warm days and cool nights and cattle get sick. This will be reflected in the market on these type cattle – bawling, unweaned, unvaccinated. Slaughter bulls and cows sold steady.

Cows made up approximately 14 percent of the run, 86 percent feeders. Steers made up approximately 45 percent of the offering, 32 percent heifers with 23 percent feeder bulls. Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around 27 percent.
