Compared to the last special two weeks ago, the better quality weaned steer calves weighing 500-700 lbs and heifers weighing 500-550 lbs and 650-700 lbs sold steady, all other weights were not well tested. Feeder steers and heifers weighing over 650 lbs overall quality was not as attractive as two weeks ago with cattle carrying lot more flesh as weighing conditions were not as good. Slaughter cows traded steady with last week. Supply included: 86% Feeder Cattle (54% Steers, 41% Heifers, 5% Bulls); 14% Slaughter Cattle (11% Steers, 4% Heifers, 77% Cows, 9% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 59%.

Compared to last week: Feeder cattle and calves not well tested, few comparable sales near steady. Demand moderate to good. Very heavy rains over the past few days has limited movement of livestock. Some areas receiving 10 plus inches of rain with widespread 2-4 inches falling. This definitely put a dent in the state's drought situation. Some unseasonable weather with tornados touching down in parts of the state. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (56% Steers, 43% Heifers, 2% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 54%.

Feeder steers & heifers traded steady with a stronger undertone on the better quality on medium-large 1-2 (Market quotes are on mostly unvaccinated cattle)and unevenly steady on lower quality medium-short 2-3. Slaughter cows traded steady to 2.00 lower on better overnight cows with good lean cows trading 3.00 lower and 2.00-4.00 lower on slower cows. Slaughter bulls traded 3.00-5.00 lower.
