Compared to the last special two weeks ago, feeder steers under 700 lbs and heifers under 600 lbs on comparable sales traded mostly 10.00- 15.00 lower, with steers over 700 lbs and heifers over 600 lbs all selling with a lower undertone on a light test with the last special. Demand was moderate to good with supply moderate, the best demand was on a nice quality offering of 745-800 lb steers that sold with good demand. The largest draft that sold was 100 head of Large Frame heifers weighing 1082 lbs at 201.25. Over the last two weeks CME Cattle futures have had a volatile ride along with lower fed cattle trade all has pressured feeder cattle prices as cattle feeders have slowed their approach to purchasing feeders. Slaughter steers and heifers sold 8.00-10.00 lower than last week's strong market with slaughter cows trading 2.00-5.00 lower. Supply included: 89% Feeder Cattle (50% Steers, 46% Heifers, 5% Bulls); 11% Slaughter Cattle (30% Steers, 6% Heifers, 53% Cows, 10% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 69%.

Compared to last week: Feeder cattle again lightly tested. Feeder steers mostly steady to 2.00 lower, most decline over 800 lbs. Feeder heifers unevenly steady. Steer and heifer calves 3.00-6.00 lower. Demand moderate to good. Lighter receipts as extreme heat continues. Feeder cattle futures failed to find positive ground today and closed slightly lower. Quality mostly average. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (58% Steers, 0% Dairy Steers, 39% Heifers, 3% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 57%.
