Missouri Rice Field Day Set For August 20

The Missouri Rice Research and Merchandising Council will host its annual Rice Field Day on Tuesday, August 20 at the Missouri Rice Research Farm near Glennonville. 

 Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and tours begin at 8:30 a.m. Research personnel and experts will be on hand to provide area farmers a chance to see and learn about recent developments in rice research. Morning tour topics include:

 • Dr. Hunter Biram, University of Arkansas: Declining Net Returns in 2024 and Farm Bill Implications

 • Dr. Justin Calhoun, University of Missouri: Weed Management in Missouri Rice and Desiccation Considerations in Soybeans

 • Dr. Justin Chlapecka, University of Missouri: Missouri Rice Research Update and Row Rice Trials

• Robyn Chlapecka, University of Missouri: Rice Verification: Lessons and successes of year one

• Dr. Chase Floyd, University of Missouri: Insect Management in Missouri Rice

 • Rice Variety & Hybrid Updates with Representatives from HorizonAg, RiceTec, Progeny Ag, University of Arkansas, and Nutrien

 The Field Day will conclude with an 11:30 a.m. luncheon catered by Tasteful Creations. The lunch program will include greetings from Missouri State Senator and rice producer Jason Bean, farm bill and market updates, and updates from Missouri Rice Council and US Rice Producers Association.
