Mizzou Pest Management Field Day Is July 11

Farmers can learn the latest in weed management at the annual Mizzou Pest Management Field Day on Thursday, July 11, at the University of Missouri’s Bradford Research Farm near Columbia.
For the first time, online registration is required.
State extension plant pathologist Mandy Bish will give an update on tar spot of corn, management of fusarium head blight in wheat and the effects of environment on soybean disease. New state extension entomologist Ivair Valmorbida will discuss
insect pest thresholds and scouting techniques.
This year’s field day also includes research results from multiple experiments on the application of herbicides with drones. Other topics include results from deer-repellent product research, new pasture weed management options, research on resistant waterhemp management and guided crop tours.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. After opening comments by MU Extension state weed scientist Kevin Bradley, attendees will take a guided wagon tour of the farm to learn from MU researchers. Lunch follows at noon, after which attendees can visit research plots around the farm on their own.
Registration fee is $30 to cover costs associated with lunch, refreshments and the field day tour. Register at https://mizzou.us/PMFD2024 by July 5. Continuing education units will be awarded for certified crop advisers.
The MU Bradford Research Farm is 8 miles east of Columbia at 4968 Rangeline Road.
