Compared to the last special two weeks ago, steer calves weighing 450-700 lbs sold 5.00-10.00 higher, spots 15.00 higher on the 600-650 lb steers with 750-800 lbs trading 3.00-5.00 higher. Feeder heifers weighing 400-500 lbs sold firm to 5.00 higher, with 550-700 lbs selling 5.00- 10.00 higher with 2 pot loads of 940 and 1030 lbs having no recent test of comparable weights. Demand was good on a moderate supply with a nice quality offering of calves weighing 400-650 lbs selling on and active market. CME Feeder Cattle futures ended the week on a strong note with triple digit gains with May thru October closing 2.02 to 2.45 higher. Slaughter steers and heifers sold with a higher undertone and slaughter cows traded steady to firm. Supply included: 81% Feeder Cattle (44% Steers, 53% Heifers, 3% Bulls); 19% Slaughter Cattle (20% Steers, 5% Heifers, 67% Cows, 8% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 53%.

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers 4.00-8.00 higher. Steer and heifer calves not well tested and few sales 5.00-10.00 higher, instance to 20.00 higher. Demand good for all classes. Quality average to attractive. Last Friday's COF report mixed with lower than expected On Feed and Placements. Cattle futures reacting positively on Monday and traded well in the green. Several cattle coming off of graze out wheat and yet we are still running below year ago levels. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (56% Steers, 43% Heifers, 2% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 80%.

Holstein steers traded steady on high choice and 1.00 lower on low choice and selects.  Feeder steers & heifers traded stronger on medium-large 1-2 (Market quotes are on mostly unvaccinated cattle) and 2.00-4.00 lower on medium-short 2-3. Slaughter cows traded 3.00-7.00 higher on better overnight cows with good lean cows trading 2.00-3.00 higher and steady to 2.00 higher on slower cows. Slaughter bulls traded steady to 7.00 higher.
