“Every year, the Agricultural Lenders School offers in-depth agricultural finance training for lenders through presentations, case studies and hands-on exercises,” Milhollin said. “Our goal is to help prepare lenders to make good loan decisions in today’s marketplace.”
Milhollin said attendees will receive instruction on a host of concepts and issues in agricultural finance. Topics include:

- Communication with farmer clients.
- Agriculture-specific practical servicing issues.
- Emerging issues in agricultural finance.
- Legal review and lien documentation.
- Managing agricultural risks.

- USDA Farm Service Agency programs.
MU Extension agricultural economist Ben Brown will present “You and the Federal Ag Safety Net” about MU resources, federal programs, the farm bill and more.
Linda Sowers, ag economics instructor with the MU Division of Applied Social Sciences, will focus on “Marketing Yourself as a Lender.”
The school’s lead instructor is Freddie Barnard, Purdue University professor emeritus of agricultural economics and a pioneer in the development of Farm Financial Standards. Other speakers include lending professionals, industry experts and MU faculty members.
Milhollin said that since 2000, the Agricultural Lenders School has helped more than 700 lenders from institutions across the United States hone their skills and better prepare to serve agricultural clients.
