The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture now has an online calendar of conferences and workshops to help Arkansas’ cattle ranchers improve their herds, pastures and outcomes with information from research-based sources.

“The livestock industry is significant in Arkansas,” said Tom Barber, interim head of agriculture and natural resources-extension for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. “Cattle and calves were a $524 million business in Arkansas in 2022 and during the same year, Arkansas produced 2.18 million tons of hay valued at $291.67 million.

“It’s important for the Division of Agriculture to provide support to our ranchers with the latest recommendations,” he said.

Upcoming events include:

  • Twin Lakes Beef and Forage Conference in Cotter on March 7
  • Benton County Cattle and Forage meeting in Decatur on March 11
  • Novel Fescue Renovation Workshop at Batesville on March 21.

For additional information on these events, contact your local county extension office. ∆
