Compared to the last special two weeks ago, steer calves under 550 lbs were not tested on light offering, with 550-650 lbs selling mostly steady, 650-950 lbs sold with a higher undertone. Feeder heifers weighing 400-600 lbs sold steady, with 600-700 lbs trading 2.00-6.00 higher with the most advance on the 650-700 lb heifers, over 700 lbs sold with a higher undertone. Demand was good on a moderate supply with the bulk of the receipts yearlings weighing 600-950 lbs. Several large groups and packages of good quality yearlings sold on and active market with one consignment of 23 hd of black replacement heifers weighing 811 lbs sold for 232.50. Slaughter steers and heifers sold 2.00-4.00 higher than last week with slaughter cows trading 5.00-8.00 higher, spots 10.00 higher on a nice offering off slaughter cows. Cattle on Feed report was issued Friday afternoon coming in within estimates with On Feed at 102 percent, Placements at 96 percent and Marketings at 99 percent. Supply included: 83% Feeder Cattle (59% Steers, 40% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 17% Slaughter Cattle (13% Steers, 14% Heifers, 71% Cows, 3% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 76%.

Slaughter steers and heifers traded unevenly steady on high choice and steady on low choice and selects. Holstein steers traded steady on high choice and 2.00-3.00 lower on low choice and selects.  Feeder steers & heifers trade was strong on medium-large 1-2 (Market quotes are on mostly unvaccinated cattle) and unevenly steady on medium-short 2-3. Slaughter cows on a weather market traded steady to 2.00 higher on better cows and 3.00-4.00 higher on slower cows. Slaughter bulls traded 2.00 higher.
