Gear Up For Grain Crops IPM Conference At National Corvette Museum
BOWLING GREEN, KENTUCKY
Cruise to the head of the line by purchasing your tickets now for a premier agricultural conference focusing on grain crops integrated pest management. The Kentucky Crop Health Conference (KCHC) will be held Feb. 8, 2024, at the National Corvette Museum conference room in Bowling Green, Ky. The conference will include University of Kentucky extension specialists and invited nationally prominent pest management specialists from across the United States.
This year, Thomas Butts from the University of Arkansas, will discuss ‘Drone Herbicide
Applications: What do we need to know for success?’ Nicholas Seiter from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, will speak on ‘Above- and below- ground traits for insect management in corn – New
tools, old pests, and resistance.’ Gregory Tylka from Iowa State University, will present ‘Soybean Cyst Nematode: Past, present and future.’
University of Kentucky Extension Plant Pathologist Carl Bradley will speak on ‘Red Crown Rot of Soybean: Disease management and potential impacts of this new disease on soybean production in Kentucky.’ UK Extension Plant Pathologist Kiersten Wise will present ‘It’s always something - New corn disease concerns for Kentucky.’ UK Extension Entomologist Raul Villanueva will address ‘The abundance of emergent pests in the 2022-23 corn and soybean seasons in Kentucky.’ UK Extension Weed Scientist Travis Legleiter will discuss ‘Dealing with the Stretch - Early planted soybean and weed control.’
“The KCHC is a great opportunity for Kentucky crop consultants and farmers to hear from nationally recognized pest specialists,” Legleiter said. “The KCHC is unique in that it provides expertise from outside of Kentucky, as well as the quality information that people expect from the University of Kentucky pest specialists.”
Seating is limited and ticket sales close on Feb. 1, 2024, and are non-refundable after Jan. 25, 2024. Breakfast and lunch will be included. Certified Crop Advisors will receive five continuing education units in Integrated Pest Management; Kentucky pesticide applicators will receive six continuing education units for Category 1A (Ag Plant) and 1 CEU for Category 11 (Aerial). Tennessee pesticide applicators will receive five points each for Categories 01, 10 and 12.
