Friday's auction was a Special Bred Cow/Heifer sale with several consignments of top quality heifers in the 3rd stage selling with good demand, along with several small consignments of good quality young bred cows 3-5 yrs in the 2nd and 3rd stage. Several lots and packages of 4 yrs to short solid mouth pairs with 200-300 lb calves in the offering. Feeder cattle were lightly tested selling in small packages and singles many unweaned or short weaned. A very large offering of slaughter cows over 500 head sold steady with last week. Supply included: 37% Feeder Cattle (35% Steers, 46% Heifers, 19% Bulls); 44% Slaughter Cattle (2% Steers, 1% Heifers, 93% Cows, 5% Bulls); 19% Replacement Cattle (28% Bred Cows, 52% Bred Heifers, 20% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 29%.

Compared to last week, steers and 600 lbs heifers sold 9.00-19.00 higher, the rest of the heifer offering sold steady to 2.00 higher with good quality pre vac calves in the offering. Slaughter cows sold 3.00 higher and bulls sold steady; Demand good and supply light. Supply included: 69% Feeder Cattle (48% Steers, 43% Heifers, 9% Bulls); 28% Slaughter Cattle (85% Cows, 15% Bulls); 3% Replacement Cattle (86% Bred Cows, 7% Bred Heifers, 7% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 25%.

Holstein steers traded 3.00 lower on high choice and 2.00 lower on low choice and selects. Feeder steers & heifers traded stronger on medium-large 1-2 (Market quotes are on mostly unvaccinated cattle) and unevenly stead on medium-short 2-3.
