The body of laws, policies and regulations affecting agriculture is vast and fast-changing, but the National Agricultural Law Center has introduced The Feed, a biweekly newsletter aimed at keeping industry professionals up to date.
Content is written by research attorneys but is designed for non-attorneys as well. The first two issues of the digital newsletter were released in January and are available online.
“In January alone, nearly 20 states proposed new laws dealing with foreign ownership of agricultural land, along with numerous proposals at the federal level,” said Harrison Pittman, director of the National Agricultural Law Center. “There is just so much happening that affects different folks in a variety of ways. Because of this, we decided to launch The Feed as another way in which we can better serve all stakeholders — farmers, attorneys, extension and other industry professionals — in a manner that is very timely and relevant.”
Pittman said, “The Feed updates readers on the latest developments, but also provides links to NALC webinars, factsheets, and other resources dealing with topics such as foreign ownership of agricultural land.”
Sign up for The Feed is online.
“We want to express our appreciation to the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture Foundation, as a founding supporter of this outreach effort,” Pittman said.
The foundation’s support for The Feed grew out of its sponsorship of the NALC’s two upcoming conferences: the Western Agricultural and Law Conference and the Mid-South Agricultural and Environmental Law Conference.
