EPA IPM Webinar: Updates for Managing the Asian Long-horned Beetle
PRINCETON, KENTUCKY
The Asian long-horned beetle is an invasive insect that is harmful to America’s hardwood forests. Boring into hardwoods, this invasive insect weakens the trunks of trees and can lead to their decline. This beetle has spread throughout the U.S. and can damage natural and recreational resources. This free EPA webinar will focus on identifying this pest and effective integrated pest management strategies to eradicate it from forested areas.
This webinar will be offered on January 23, 2:00 PM to 3:30 P.M. ET. This presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
By attending this session, you can earn free CEU credit that can be used to help renew your commercial pesticide certification.
This webinar will feature a USDA APHIS speaker to address the scope of the Asian long-horned beetle problem in the U.S. and its infestation of twelve types of hardwood trees. Participants will learn how to investigate trees for damage, the signs of infestation, the potential hazards of compromised trees on the surrounding environment, and about the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s effective integrated pest management approaches to control beetle infestations, including quarantines, tree removal, and insecticide treatments.
You will need to preregister for this webinar. Attendees can earn continuing education credits for all of these sessions from the KY Department of Agriculture by registering and participating. ∆
