Compared to the last special three weeks ago which was a special bred cow sale there really no recent sale for a good comparison. Friday's sale though started the year with a good offering of some top quality calves and yearlings in the offering all selling with a firm to higher undertone, especially the 600-750 lb heifers with many selling with good weighing conditions and several lots going for replacements. Also in the offering were several pot loads of 800-950 lb heifers and several part loads and pot loads of yearling steers weighing 650-900 lbs all selling on and active market. Slaughter cows traded 2.00-5.00 higher along with a nice offering of slaughter steers and heifers trading on an active market. Supply included: 83% Feeder Cattle (53% Steers, 46% Heifers, 1% Bulls); 17% Slaughter Cattle (24% Steers, 12% Heifers, 57% Cows, 7% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 71%.

Compared to December 13th sale, steers and heifers sold uneven, from 2.00 lower to 3.00 higher. Slaughter cows sold 4.00 higher, a few bulls sold 2.00 higher; Demand uneven and supply light. Supply included: 73% Feeder Cattle (49% Steers, 2% Dairy Steers, 35% Heifers, 14% Bulls); 27% Slaughter Cattle (93% Cows, 7% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 36%.

Supply included: 94% Feeder Cattle (53% Steers, 42% Heifers, 6% Bulls); 5% Slaughter Cattle (77% Cows, 23% Bulls); 1% Replacement Cattle (40% Bred Cows, 20% Bred Heifers, 40% Cow-Calf Pairs).
